I have been
told that I am comfortable, natural and easy-going, with a humorous
approach to life and work. In private sessions, I keep things
relaxed, direct, and focused on getting you where you want
to go with as little 'fluff' as possible. In seminars
and workshops, I endeavor to deliver smart and accessible content
with a creative and free-spirited 'flair'. My primary mission
is to help you achieve the change you are seeking - and I hope
to help people realize that the process CAN be fun, and even funny.
Let's face it - human behavior, especially our own, can be down-right
ridiculous. While people are often dealing with serious issues,
that does NOT mean that every moment of the conversation has to
be depressing. After all - are we not all looking to feel better?
My goal is to make sure you leave your sessions or the seminars
feeling BETTER than when you walked in, and having the tools with
which to continue those good feelings.
My professional
and personal history include over 10 years as a consulting hypnotist,
over 25 years in leadership and counseling roles, and a rich education
in communication and the power of the mind. As early as high school,
I played the role of leader and counselor, participating in volunteer
rescue missions at the early age of 15, and acting as a peer counselor
through high school and college. Some might say I had a bit of
a 'hero' complex - and to this day, I cannot resist saving puppies
and knocking the snow off of over-burdened trees. I can honestly
say that throughout the span of my career every job and every
educational experience has been geared toward helping people discover
who they are, what they want, and and how to be and have that
in their lives. Whether helping people to create a vision of their
best future, get over phobias and anxiety, or release trauma from
the past, this work is more than just my job. It is my passion,
my 'obsession' if you will...it is simply who I am.
Approach and Philosophy...
I have had
the honor of listening, and watching people discover and create what they REALLY
want in life, for over 20 years. People come to me for a wide
variety of issues: to create health and wellness, overcome anxiety and create confidence,
improve their careers and relationships, etc. I get to be a small part of their journey, and through
that privilege I have developed a deep respect for the human psyche
- for our strength, our resillience, and our creative power. Every
client has been a teacher for me, and I admire them for choosing
to evolve, change, and grow. Every person that walks through my
door does so with courage and the determination to create powerful
change in their own lives. Sometimes to get there, people
have to release past traumas, phobias & anxiety. Other times,
they have to be willing to be truthful about life as it is, to discover
life as they want it to be.
My approach
bridges the gap between pure science and logic and a more spiritual, 'magical'
journey. I've needed a balance of the two for my own growth, and
both schools of thought offer powerful lessons. I've studied the
mind extensively, and its connection to our experience of life.
The power of the philosophies, tools, and processes I've gleaned
over the years have proven to be universal. They span many different
practices, belief systems, and modalities. I take delight in seeing
the commonality in different areas, and distilling it down to
what really works - regardless of background or belief.
I am NOT a psychiatrist, psychologist, or medical professional. In the State of Colorado, practicing hypnotherapy and NLP is an accepted unlicensed psychotherapeutic modality. If you have a diagnosed medical or mental disorder,
please seek medical assistance and consider using hypnosis as an adjunct process. I do not
"treat" or "cure" illness, or fix things that are 'wrong' with you. In the work that I do, we will operate within the parameters of one of the most useful presuppositions in NLP: We all work perfectly, we simply need to learn HOW our minds work, and use that information to get the results that we want. Releasing a past trauma, anxiety, even a phobia, can happen in an instant.
Many people use hypnosis and NLP as very powerful tools in dealing with feelings of depression and sadness. I can teach you how you can change your feelings with a mere thought. When dealing with feelings of sadness or helplessness, the more you can train your mind to focus on the thoughts that change how you feel, the more the 'good' feelings become habit. It truly can be that simple.
Many practitioners of NLP stand firmly within the belief that 'venting', just talking about bad feelings, etc, is a waste of time or useless. I have a slightly different take on that: I think there is value and a useful function in being heard and having a safe place to tell your story. If you are dealing with a chronic illness, ongoing problems at home, a trauma from the past, etc, it can be healing and a huge relief to be able to tell someone how you feel - what's happening, or what happened - especially if you have no one else with whom to have that conversation. However, once you have satisfied your need to talk, and you have gotten all of the healing and usefulness out of that process, you will come to a point when you realize that focusing any more energy or time on THE PROBLEM is no longer serving your best interests. That is when it is time to focus on a SOLUTION - time to focus on how you want to feel, what you DO want
in life - and work with tools that help the brain to release old
patterns and reprogram or 're-pattern' the mind.
We each have the power
to make our best life and to define what that means for US. My job is to help you
discover what YOU want. Our job together is to discover HOW you function best...so that you can use that to create your best life. The most important
piece of doing this work is discovering what makes you
happy, and helps you feel fulfilled -
and then having the courage to do what it takes to make that happen.
All
right - now for the boring stuff...
